Media got a behind-the-scenes look at the Cornwall Optimist Toy Drive’s sorting and packing effort, staged in the old Honda building at Brookdale and Rosemount Avenues. Co-chair Mikayla Brunton said two-dozen volunteers assemble bundles totally 3,000 toy, that will be distributed to over 1,900 children, from infants to age 16. Support comes from residents, schools, and businesses, including the “Angels” system, where workplaces and schools collect gifts for anonymous children, and the Optimist Club arranges pickup. Brunton noted demand has risen by about 100 children each year for the past two years.
