Seaway Valley Theatre Company invites audiences into a world of romance, laughter, and stage magic with Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella – Enchanted Edition, opening February 13 at Aultsville Theatre.
Directed by Lesley Ellam, the winter musical brings the 1997 TV classic starring Brandy and Whitney Houston to life. “It’s not just a fairy tale — it’s a romantic comedy,” said Ellam. “The people surrounding Cinderella and the Prince are hilarious. There’s so much fun in this show.” The show features choreography by Amy Malyon and Dana Power, with musical direction by Elizabeth Caddell. “We’ve been working on the 13-minute waltz that opens Act II since September,” said Ellam. “It’s going to be beautiful.” Audiences can expect on-stage magic, including Cinderella’s dress transforming before their eyes. “Magic has been our biggest creative challenge,” Ellam admitted, “but I promise, you’ll still say ‘ooh, that’s cool.'”
Performances run from February 13 to 16 and 20 to 21, with tickets available either through The Ticket Wicket or at the door. “You just can’t put on a show like this without an army of volunteers,” said Ellam, who also thanked producers Shirley Robertson and Christiane Taylor.
Let the magic begin.
