Cornwall’s downtown came alive with music as The Glengarry Ramblers hosted their monthly Open Mic Night at Carrots N’ Dates. With regular member Peter Fortin away, Bruce Callan and Richard Ullyott performed as a duo, blending soft rock, folk, country, and Celtic sounds. “We’re the only consistent open mic in Cornwall right now,” said Callan. “We started hosting them at the Stomping Grounds, and when they closed, Nancy (Vigeant) was kind enough to let us continue here.” Held on the third Friday of each month, the event welcomes musicians of all levels to perform three or four songs each. “You come in, put your name on the list, and we give you the stage,” added Ullyott. Callan and Ullyott, both multi-instrumentalists, occasionally perform originals like I-81 Blues, inspired by a true motorcycle ride. They praised the venue’s intimate vibe and Vigeant’s support of live music: “Nancy’s fully supporting local music, which is great,” said Callan. “She has entertainment here most Fridays.”
