Cornwall native Kelly Burke is set to become Canada’s new Official Languages Commissioner.
A formal announcement awaits the signature of Prime Minister Mark Carney. A graduate of École secondaire catholique La Citadelle, Burke was named Ontario’s French Language Services Commissioner in 2020. The lawyer has been a career public servant with the Ontario government for 20 years. She was Assistant Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Francophone Affairs from 2014 to 2019 and later Assistant Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Colleges and Universities.
