The Dip was the idea of Rodney Shepherd, who after ten years of taking the plunge himself, stepped back due to health issues, but he continues to organize the event. “It is a great fundraiser for the Hall and always a fun day,” said Shepherd.
The event is a community effort, with the Township clearing the snow from the ice and volunteers cutting through 18 inches of ice to open up the hole. Jeremie Dubeau, Josée Goulet and Mylene Carriere from the Lions Club of Alexandria were also on hand offering free hot chocolate with marshmallows.
