Local author and illustrator Patsy Primeau brought her debut book to Cornwall Square recently, meeting readers during a book signing.
Primeau, who grew up in Munroe’s Mills near Martintown, draws heavily on personal experiences for The Misadventures: Out on Tex’s Farm. “These are all true stories, pretty much,” she said, explaining that the characters are inspired by her own family, reimagined as barnyard animals. “We turned them into stories of what happened throughout the years.” A self-taught artist, Primeau only began painting in 2020. “I picked up a paintbrush. I didn’t know I could paint,” she said. The book combines her illustrations with rhyming text developed alongside her brother Jamie. “If it was a story we all remembered, we would turn it into a story.” Written for young readers but with broad appeal, the book’s tone is playful and quirky. “It’s kind of for everybody. Even adults like it,” she said.
