The North Dundas Fire Service recognized its volunteer firefighters and their families during its annual awards banquet last month, highlighting dedication across its four stations. At Winchester Station 3, Cory Houle earned Highest Volunteer Hours, Tim Lacasse received Highest Training Attendance, and Ed Charlton was recognized for Highest Call Attendance. Chesterville Station 4 honours went to Sean Donovan (hours) and Josh Seeley, who received both training and call attendance awards.
At Morewood Station 1, Troy Helmer, Justin Comtois, and Steve Matice were recognized, while Mountain Station 2 awards went to Tony Wouters, Karen Lewin, and Cam Grozelle. Long-service awards were also presented, with 10 firefighters marking five years, Ryan McRosite reaching 10 years, and Matthew MacGregor honoured for 15 years of service.
Fire Chief Kreg Raistrick praised the recipients. “We are very fortunate to have these people who choose to show up for the many hours of training, prevention, and of course, emergencies,” he said. “Our community is better because of the commitment of these dedicated individuals.” Mayor Tony Fraser added, “Their selfless commitment to answer the call at all hours truly speaks volumes of their dedication. Firefighters are my favourite people.”
