The Cornwall Art Hive continues to offer a free, inclusive space for creative expression, welcoming participants of all ages and experience levels. Facilitated by local artist Yafa Goawily alongside Richard Salem of Your Arts Council, the initiative emphasizes process over product, with all art supplies provided and no instruction required.
“Richard and I started this four years ago during the pandemic,” said Goawily, noting the sessions now run regularly and remain open to everyone. “No registration, no payment, just show up and create some art.”
Participants can explore accessible materials such as crayons, watercolour, and clay, with a focus on removing barriers to creativity. “You don’t have to be an artist. You can just sit and have fun,” she added.
The Art Hive recently held its final indoor gathering at Cornwall Square until fall. With warmer weather, sessions are moving outdoors to Lamoureux Park near the splash pad. “It’s summer energy, and we’re going to have so much fun,” said Goawily, adding that outdoor sessions will include expanded materials and activities.
Sessions are held every two weeks on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
