The SDG Historical Society and the Cornwall Community Museum dedicated the Industry Exhibit in memory of Ransom Ledoux during a ceremony attended by family members and supporters of the Society.
Ledoux was a longtime member, director, vice-president, and former president of the SDG Historical Society. He served as a director from 2001 to 2011, vice-president from 2005 to 2009, and president from 2010 to 2011. He contributed extensively to local heritage groups and volunteered his time to support their work. The former Courtaulds employee also donated numerous Courtaulds artifacts to the Museum’s collection.
A donation from Ledoux’s estate was also used to establish the Society’s first endowment fund, helping support the organization’s long-term work preserving local history.
“We are pleased to dedicate the industry exhibit in honour of Ransom Ledoux,” said Brent Whitford. “His significant contributions will undoubtedly help the Museum to continue meeting its mandate to the benefit of the entire community.”
“Ransom Ledoux was a dedicated and valued member of our Historical Society whose passion for preserving Cornwall’s industrial heritage was reflected in his donation of artifacts that became the cornerstone of our Courtaulds exhibit,” said Dona Cruickshank, President of the SDG Historical Society.
“Through an endowment fund created in his name, his legacy will continue supporting important projects and preserving local history for future generations,” she added.
The exhibit room dedication recognizes Ledoux’s lasting impact on the preservation of regional industrial and community history.
