Cornwall’s business community gathered at Archie’s Family Golf Centre for the latest Cornwall & Area Chamber of Commerce Pub Night, combining networking, mini-putt, barbecue, and golf in an outdoor setting.
Hosted in partnership with the Cornwall Construction Association, the event attracted a strong turnout of Chamber members and local business professionals. Attendees enjoyed food, rounds of mini-putt, a longest-drive competition, and the opportunity to try Archie’s recently introduced Toptracer driving range technology.
Eric Tremblay, President of the Chamber of Commerce, said the venue and new attraction made this Pub Night unique. “Well, the venue is super nice, so that’s one thing,” said Tremblay. “The other thing is Toptracer was introduced a couple of weeks ago, so it’s a chance for our members to try it. Usually, we don’t have this type of activity during our Pub Nights.”
Toptracer uses camera-based technology to track golf shots in real time, providing players with detailed information on distance, speed, launch angle, and ball flight. The system is widely known for its use on professional golf broadcasts and is now available at Archie’s through 14 partially enclosed driving bays overlooking the facility’s pond.
Tremblay said the evening reflected one of the Chamber’s core objectives: creating opportunities for business people to build relationships. “What I like is speaking with people, even if they’re not members,” he said. “Making connections and growing networks is one of the Chamber’s objectives. We’re happy to provide the food and activities so people can connect and grow their business networks.”
Among those in attendance was real estate agent Matthew Girgis, who praised Archie’s investment in the new driving range experience. “I think it’s a fantastic venue, and they’ve done a great job,” said Girgis. “It’s going to be a great spot for kids and adults to hang out on evenings and weekends.” While admitting he is “a terrible golfer,” Girgis said the facility provides an enjoyable place to practice and socialize. He also noted that the event attracted both familiar and new faces. “It’s nice to see a fresh venue and some fresh faces being drawn out because of the type of event that it is,” he said.
