The Rotary Club of Cornwall continued a long-standing tradition with its annual Rose Sale fundraiser, bringing flowers to the community while raising money for local initiatives.
Each year, Rotarians and volunteers sell, prepare, and distribute roses, with proceeds supporting programs and projects that benefit Cornwall and area residents. The fundraiser also helps brighten the community through donated roses delivered to local long-term care homes.
Yves Soumillon, Chairperson for the Rotary Rose Sale, said the 2026 campaign exceeded expectations.
“So far, we’ve sold over 1,250 dozen roses, which surpasses what we sold last year, which was just over 1,100,” said Soumillon.
With more than 15,000 roses distributed, Soumillon said the fundraiser is expected to generate between $15,000 and $16,000 in profit to support local projects.
The annual initiative also offers residents an opportunity to purchase roses for family members, friends, neighbours, and colleagues while supporting Rotary’s commitment to service.
Soumillon said one of the most rewarding parts of volunteering is “the interaction with people.”
“I love meeting and interacting with people, and attempting to recruit new people to the club,” he said.
He added that donated roses delivered to long-term care homes create meaningful moments.
“The smiles on the residents’ faces and the staff is just an amazing experience,” said Soumillon.
