The Cornwall Colts extended their win streak to three games with a strong 4-1 home victory over the Navan Grads January 29, before falling 7-1 to Carleton Place the following night on the road.
In the win against Navan, Darrell Diakite had a great performance, notching a goal and two assists to earn first-star honours. Derek Rhodes added a goal and an assist, while Camden McCuaig scored on the power play to seal the win late in the third.
Less than 24 hours later, the Colts ran into a red-hot Carleton Place squad. Despite outshooting the Canadians 43-32, Cornwall couldn’t solve goalie Charlie Larocque, who made 42 saves. Jaxon McVie-Stevenson led the attack for Carleton Place with a hat trick and an assist, while Nathan Landriault posted a four-point night.
Following the split, Cornwall remains in third place in the Yzerman Division with a record of 21-19-1-1 and 44 points-just one ahead of Navan, who hold three games in hand.
The Colts return to action February 5, hosting the Carleton Place Canadians at Ed Lumley Arena. Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m.
